     Every year, Kiwi's use almost 300 million coffee cups and 1 billion plastic shopping bags 

    At Macrocarpa Café, our aim is to eliminate single use plastics in our food and beverage packaging. We are committed to using only paper grocery bags and food packaging that utilises plant-based plastics and recyclable materials 

  • AIM 2: MINIMISE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

    Like many businesses in NZ, we rely heavily on tourism. We are aware of the environmental impact that International Tourism has and we are committed to offsetting this wherever we can. 

    From sourcing produce as locally as possible, to ride-sharing up the mountain, every one of the Macrocarpa team is committed to reducing the impact of our activities on the environment. We even make decisions about our suppliers based on their manufacturing and distribution processes and their awareness of their Carbon Footprint 

  • AIM 3: REDUCING WASTE GOING TO LANDFILL

    Unfortunately, there are limited options available to us for recycling and composting some of our waste. However... 

    When sending some of our plant-based plastics to landfill, we know that when these products break down, they leave only biological waste and we are not adding petroleum-based plastics to our waterways.

  • FOOD WASTE

    In addition to this, all of our food waste is sent to local livestock owners, so nothing goes to waste!
